What To Expect During Your Memory Assessment Visit
When you come to the UConn Health Memory Assessment Program, you're not just receiving a singular service—you're choosing to be part of a dynamic academic medical center that's at the forefront of memory, aging, and neurological care, education and research. You can expect a personalized and thorough evaluation tailored to your unique needs.
At your first visit, you will see a geriatric specialist who will provide a medical work-up, including:
- Comprehensive medical history and exam
- Memory screening
- Medication review
- Bloodwork
- Brain imaging
We may also refer you to other specialists in our group. Many of our patients receive:
- Neuropsychological testing by one of our board-certified neuropsychologists
- Advanced brain imaging, such as Brain PET scans
- Biomarker testing, such as cerebrospinal fluid analysis
- Genetic testing
- Assessment and coordinated care with a geriatric psychiatrist or neurologist
- Referrals to speech-language pathology for memory training
- Caregiver support through our social worker and support group
