They also have expertise in treating diseases of the pancreas, such as pancreatic cancer surgery, and pancreatic mass analysis.
Cancer can also occur in the bile duct, causing a blockage. When a bile duct becomes blocked by a tumor, a gallstone, or even an abnormal narrowing of the passage called a stricture, it can create havoc in the body. A bile duct removal or a biliary bypass may be required to correct the problem, and the liver, pancreas, and bile duct surgeons at UConn Health frequently treat these conditions.
