MyChart

Paperless Billing Options

UConn Health offers paperless billing through MyChart, our secure online patient portal.

Currently, only those with a MyChart account can receive electronic statements. Sign up for a MyChart account now.

We are excited to announce that, beginning March 1, 2025, UConn Health will convert to paperless billing for all patients, including MyChart and non-MyChart users.

If you have previously opted out of paperless billing, this change will not affect you, and you will continue to receive paper statements.

Benefits of Paperless Billing

There are many benefits to electronic statements, including:

  • Increased security – prevent identity theft resulting from stolen mail.
  • Convenience – access your bills anytime, anywhere, using a computer, mobile device, or smartphone.
  • Faster delivery – eliminates the need to rely on mail delivery and avoids delays.
  • Eco-friendliness – less paper and clutter.

Notification of Available Electronic Statements

Once a new electronic statement is available to view, you will be notified in one of two ways:

  • Via MyChart through the mobile app and your email address and/or mobile number associated with your MyChart account.
  • Via your email address and/or mobile number associated with your communication preferences on file.

If you need to update your email address or mobile number, you can access your MyChart account and update your communications preferences under Account settings.

A UConn Health billing representative can assist if you need help updating your email or mobile number. Please send a secure billing message through MyChart or call our Customer Service department at 860-679-6387, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Billing Questions

  • What happens if I don’t realize that I have a statement ready in MyChart and miss the due date?

As part of our notification process, emails and text messages are sent depending on your communication preferences on file. These notifications will notify you of a new balance and a new statement. There are also additional payment reminders that are sent as well.

At 120 days past due, UConn Health will mail your final billing statement on paper to notify you of your balance and ensure that you have received and seen the bill.

  • What if I try paperless billing and don’t like it? Can I return to paper statements?

Yes, you have the option to opt out of paperless billing. Follow the instructions above for opting out within MyChart or through your electronic statement notification.

You can also contact our Customer Service Team for assistance Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at 860-679-6387.

  • I have both hospital and physician bills. Will both be transitioned to paperless billing?

Yes, for those who are the guarantor (financially responsible) of a MyChart account, both hospital and physician bills will now be paperless.

  • I am still receiving paper statements from Anesthesia and Dental. I thought bills would be paperless?

UConn Health contracts certain services with outside groups, including but not limited to, dental and anesthesia services. You will continue to receive paper statements for those types of services unless you have made prior arrangements with those contracted services.

  • I am responsible for my child’s account. If I choose paperless billing for myself, will I also receive paperless bills for my child?

Yes, if your child is under 18 and you are the guarantor (financially responsible) for their account and enrolled in paperless billing, your child’s balances will be included in your electronic statements. Anyone 18 and over will receive separate bills and must determine their individual billing preference.

  • I have doctors that I see outside of UConn Health. Will my paperless billing at UConn Health affect how other organizations bill me?

No. Paperless Billing related to UConn Health is only connected to services provided by UConn Health. Any other MyChart accounts you may have with other health care facilities will have their own unique settings for billing and will not be impacted by this change.

  • How long will my electronic statements be available in MyChart (whether paid or unpaid)? What is the maximum number of electronic statements that can be accessed in MyChart?

Electronic statements will be available for approximately 18 months (540 days). Up to 30 electronic statements will be available within the last 540 days.

  • Can I print or download my electronic statements?

Yes, you can print or download your electronic statements.
